APECS SA wishes everyone a happy Antarctica Day! Every year, on this day, we celebrate that amazing, beautiful and absolutely inspiring continent that belongs to none of us and all of us at the same time. Today in 1959 the Antarctic Treaty System was signed, bringing together the global community in preserving Antarctica for peace, science and environmental endeavors. Have a look at the great the recent APECS Antarctica Day photo competition and vote for your favourite photo or just browse through the awesome photos available on Cool Antarctica! And don’t forge that the S.A. Agulhas II departs for Antarctica on 7 December from the East Pier, Cape Town Waterfront. If you happen to be in Cape Town on that day, why don’t you wave off our Red Lady and all the scientists and personnel on board who further the ideals of the Antarctic Treaty System.
