The 2nd APECS World Summit concluded today and what a day it was! Four plenaries, followed by workshops before lunch, and again after lunch – it really was a wonderful. A number of South African APECS members were in attendance and the APECS SA National Committee Chair, Christel Hansen, helped organise the Fieldwork Session (before lunch) and the Terrestrial Breakout Group Session (after lunch). Professor Ian Meiklejohn from Landscape Processes in Antarctic Ecosystems was one of the invited speakers to the Terrestrial Breakout Group, talking to the participants about the benefits and difficulties related to inter-polar research.
A big thank-you goes out to the APECS World Summit Organising Committee for organising the Summit, the speakers/panelists/mentors for giving their time to give the Early Career Researchers such valuable insight, and of course to the participants for making it such a successful event. We look forward to the next Summit!!!
