The British Antarctic Survey is offering a paid, short-term, Mapping and GIS Assistant role for six weeks during summer 2019, to be completed at the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, UK. Applications close 30 June with the interview date set for 9 July. The applicant should be able to start immediately, or as soon as possible.
The main tasks are to include new sources of elevation data in a suite of maps and digital products supporting aviation in Antarctica, and to assist in preparing maps for overland travel fieldwork in Antarctica. Potential applicants should be in their final year of, a degree in geography or other environmental science with a strong GIS component, and experience working with ArcGIS or QGIS.
